The rig here is DX-60. For those unfamiliar with the ancient boatanchor,
it takes 7 MHz input from outbboard VFO and either goes straight through or
multiplies for 20/15/10 in the second stage. Regardless of band, you can
copy the keyed 7 MHz signal. Rig sits on shelf over a rather high
workbench, the normal operating surface.
Last night, moved operating surface to a low chair, further removed from the
rig. Heard J3/KT0F on 40 with minor pileup. Proceeded to call him for 20
minutes until he went QRT, with no. Why such dismal result?
Well, it helps if you call on the right band. Transmitter was on 20.
