For a Yankee the accents (dialect?) in the deep south of the USA can be very 
difficult.  When working in Alabama, I found that the less education they had, the 
more unintelligible they were.  I especially had trouble with young girls in the fast 
food joints - when I couldn't understand them they yelled louder.
