Hi John, what most people forget is that they treat their politicians and
the parties they support as if they were sports teams, a lot of rah rah rah
and blind acceptance despite a losing record.
Im with George Carlin on this...first over all else, i never believe
anything my government tells me...period. im not a conspiracy buff and i
dont have a bomb shelter, im just calling it like i see it. if you ask old
mort down the road who he voted for, he will wave the flag and proudly yell
out the name, and more loudly yell out who he doesnt like (so-and-so's
opponent in the elections), then ask him if he trusts lawyers...he will rant
for an hour about how they are all bloodsucking animals....at that point, its
prudent to remind old morty that most all politicians are lawyers, hang out
with lawyers, golf with lawyers and are just politicians in general...with
whom Mort will also
profess to greatly dislike.
Every state has these loafers sitting in nice leather chairs making
decisions with or without our approval, but most certainly WITH our tax
money. and most have some kind of skeletons in the closet.
So John, i have just accepted that every state, and most other countries
have these airbags taking up a lot of space...just biding time until the next
election. ever notice how compassionate and motivated they become in the
months before election time?? just think about it, if your friends, wives or
relatives treated us with the same "respect" that these politicians/lawyers
treat us, we would ignore/divorce/disown the entire lot of them all!!
I dont trust them, never have, never will...and i see nothing since
september to indicate anything other than opportunistic, glory hounds are
still in control...i dont have a problem with a central government if it
works correctly, but i think we just have way too much government...and i
dont like the way they meddle in citizens affairs the way they do. oh well,
they are firmly rooted and if any kind of uprising were to occur, they would
just give us more politician-speak and the sedated society that we live in
would be happy to just be told that everything is ok, to go back to shoving
cheeseburgers down their collective throats and stay plugged into the
tv...the uprising would be labeled "rioters"or "protesters", the news would
paint an ugly picture of
them, and the minivan militia would shrug their shoulders and continue the
daily grind. we sure were in a hurry to do that after september...kind of
reminds me of the blankee i used to carry around when i was 5, i hid
underneath it and all the scary monsters went away (but i sure acted tough
under that blankee!!).
We have it too easy in many respects, the media, societal secularism and
our beloved government...in all its glorious forms...have done well to keep
us chasing the carrot. we are by far the most overweight nation on earth
(minus a few pacific island nations, but they are heavy from GOOD eating), we
are inundated with gadgets and gizmos born of laziness and convenience, we
dont judge ourselves on deeds or intelligence...but rather on material
possessions and social standing (clothes, the car you drive, pecs, abs,
boobs, butt, bank account, etc...). just listen to the VP6DI pileup on ssb,
you want to get heated?? listen to these lazy jerks being outright mean
while sitting in a comfortable shack, with state of the art gear, a nice big
chair, a 6 pack and a game on the telly...and dont forget A/C and a weekly
exterminator, and meanwhile, they guy hes complaining about is sitting in a
flimsy tent in a 50 mph gale storm, soaking wet or cold, probably resting his
feet on a rock and his butt on a crate, hes exhausted, probably still queasy
from the stormy seas he went through just to give CBer Dick a new one....just
to be criticized on the air and on the web for not being more convenient to
the warm, cozy op back home...who probably has a wife to give him a hug and
cook him a steak.....the DXpedition ops wife?? shes nervous as hell because
her hubby is following his calling in a most dangerous way. (some of you may
recall a Spratly operation about 20 years ago by some DL ops, their boat was
attacked and they were killed...im sure some lids were complaining about that
too).
Anyway, my point is that we have come full circle...we have lazy leaders who
are opportunists, there are exceptions, but they are rare and often dont last
in politics. lazy leadership breeds lazy society....think about it this way,
what kind of parent do you want your small child to see when they look at you?
Sorry to go on like this, i DO love my country, its my home and i will die
to protect it, but these are my everyday feelings, and since it was brought
up i figured i would chime in....and , oh yeah, im the list administrator, im
allowed to go "off topic" <eg>
Carry on gentlemen, i enjoy being able to talk like this as friends without
list cops acting like the lids on VP6DI...i look forward to your next post!
p.s. lets all stay friends, we have a ton of different views on this, and
many may disagree, but as long as we all come out of this smiling, i will be
too! :-)
Thanks!
p.s.s. Thanks Claude for stepping up, running a website is a monster, its
hard enough trying to figure out this new server were on...im having to
approve posts from Diz and Rob!!! ive NEVER had to approve ANYTHING they had
to say on here, its always on the level...just more stuff on my already
overcrowded plate :-) so Hooray for Claude!!! ::removes hat::
