Bonjour Jan,
Well, maybe now you can understand why so few Froggies are able to speak
English ... // kidding, bcoz the real reason is that we are lazy abt learning
foreign languages and maybe also we are a bit like ... US/UK citizens abt
English (!) : French used to be a widely used language so we may think
that "everyone should know it". Officialy, French is still one of the languages
used in diplomacy but further than that ...
Now abt cricket, it was some kind of joke. Not the fact that we really have to
study it, but the choice of the text. Some kind of recreation (!!).
I remember that the text was at the beginning of the book, with some funny
picture of a cricket player.
You are right abt the fact that when someone stops using a language, he starts
to forget it. BTW, congrats abt Japanese ! I used to learn some words (no more
than 10, hi ! The funniest one I know is the litteral meaning of "Itadakimas",
pure Japanese style !
> Did the Olympics include soccer?
Now, mon cher Jan, it seems that some people around here are making some
conspiracy on my back to force me to get interested in sport ... :o))
Ok, Ok ... I will enter your game ... ! Oh boys, you will kill me ...
As far as I know (pse correct me if wrong), up to the last Olympics, Soccer was
not part of it, but I _think_ it has been introduced in the last edition.
Now, guys, if I am _right_ with this assertion, I hope you will be OK to say
that I do deserve some special sport medal for knowing that ;o))
And, YES, I know that the next edition of the Olympics will take place in
Greece ! I do not read the daily sport newspaper, just taking the subtrain and
train to go to my job and so seeing ... ads/commercials (!) on the walls.
Summer is approaching and we can now see some info abt Tourist Agencies
offering charter trips to Greece and other places. And the "motto" for Greece
is : "Land of the Olympics. Come to visit us". One of the sponsor for this ad
being some "Olympics 2004 - Greece".
As would have NOT said S.H. ... "Elementary" :p
Ohayo !
73!
