The Star-Spangled Banner became the U.S. National Anthem by an Act of
Congress in 1931. It is sung to the tune of an old British drinking song
called "To Anacreon in Heaven." I remember once seeing Frank Sinatra try to
sing it on live TV, but he was so drunk, he forgot the words. It's tough
enough to sing even if you're not drunk.
