MLS - Major League Soccer

And by immigrants I mean people that moved here, not the ones that were here before
we took all their land from 'em :^) Most of the people in attendance of the games
moved here from Mexico or some other pro-soccer country :^))

I do like to occasionally watch a soccer match on the Spanish channel on the
satellite (Univision? Maybe Galavision)... of course that might just be because I
get such a kick out of the announcer going "GOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!!!"
:^))))

My favorite sport that isn't popular here is without a doubt Aussie football... that
is great!

Also, someone (Claude?) asked why there wasn't a rugby league here. There is, but
it's a smaller blip on the radar than the MLS :^) There were plans in the works
between NBC and Ted Turner to start a big-time Rugby league here to have something to
show during the NFL's off-season, but they scrapped them when they got the rights to
the second-half of the NASCAR season.

And finally on the topic of professional sports organizations (boy I'm long winded
today), I was watching "Friday Night Fights" on ESPN2 the other day and they
mentioned how Sen. John McCain has put a bill before the Senate to create a national
boxing assn. *ran by the government*. Now of course they went on and on and on about
how great it would be to finally have a national sanctioning body instead of 40,000
little groups giving out belts. Now while it would be nice to clear up that mess,
they also said that the panel in control would (of course) be in charge of suspending
fighters, managers, promoters, etc., making nationwide rules, yadda yadda yadda. Am
I the only person who doesn't want to start down that path to government control of
how sports are ran? Have they become such a big part of our society that we actually
have to pass legislation about rules in sports??? What's next, congress arguing for
3 months about a rule change in the NFL? I think I prefer the controversy... at
least it gives you something to read in the Sunday Sports section :^)

Hi Rob,

At first, what is "MLS" : Microsoft Loves Sports ?!

<<
Speaking of the MLS, has anyone noticed that about 90% of the people in
attendance
are immigrants? ;^)
>>

For sure it must be interesting to see here and there in the attendance some
genuine Indians with their official sunday dresses. It would be funny to know
what they are thinking of this game where 22 "Pale Faces" are fighting for a
ball !
