Could be.

I'm not surprised at all. Years ago they ran at the beginning of every football
season, what was called the Coca-Cola 7's. A modified game of Rugby League. The
competition was over one weekend, full on it was.

The US always entered a credible team and proved quite entertaining.

The concept was ruined when big money entered the game and coaches prohibited
stars from playing in the competition for fear of injury, so it eventually
degenerated into a "third class" mickey mouse event.

I think the only limiting factor seems to be lack of public support. With the
right support these sports would flourish in the USA.
