I'm slowly working my way through things here [and other lists]

Actually Nick [nice to see you pop your head up again] for all my frivolity,
friendly jibes and so forth it's been my personal experience that the average
American is quite sophisticated academically.
Tragically, in geopolitical terms the knowledge tends to be egocentric and
rarely extends beyond how any world issue may/or may not impact on the USA.
I've found the USA to be great mates, a shame they tend to live in a world of
their own and see the world through "rose coloured glasses".
I used the expression "mates", few so far in the USA have grasped that concept
with me. I've paid dearly for it, so be it. Not so in Fr, De, It.
If I'm your "mate" I tell you how it is. Doesn't your best friend tell you
about bad breath?
That's one example of mateship.
