[SOC] New balls, please.

Did I miss a smiley from my last post?

Cricket and baseball ain't so different.

Converting baseball into cricket is easy - I'll leave the reverse excersise
for others. Apologies for any errors in the detail...I'm sure I'll be
corrected (oh s**t!).

1) Lose first and third bases and move the pitcher's mound back to second
base. Also, lose the mound. You need just 22 yards between pitcher and
batter. Adjust as necessary.

2) Shove some sticks in the ground between batsman/batter and catcher.

3) Permit batsman as many attempts as he likes to thwack the ball. Main
difference is that if he misses the ball and it hits the sticks then he's
OUT. Give him a sensible bat.

4) Runs are now in a straight line. To make the game work, permit two
batsmen on the field at the same time so that there's always a man ready to
receive the ball.

5) To add a little interest, if the ball gets hit straight over the boundary
without hitting the ground then award 6 runs. If it bounces once or twice
first then just award 4. Running up to the pitcher (second base) counts one.

6) To stop a batsman (or bowler) getting too tired, add some more sticks at
the pitcher's end and swap ends every six balls or so. Have lots of
pitchers.

7) Tinker with the rules until the game is fun.

Paul ;-)
