Tourism gimmick Claude, all publicity is good publicity.

Actually in parts of Australia they are seriously considering a Koala "cull".

Conservation efforts have been so good that the available foliage (only a select
species of eucalypt will support Koalas) is diminishing and with the population
increase in Koalas there aren't sufficient food resources to support them.

Ditto with Kangaroos in NSW.

Our state is now 92% "officially" drought declared and in north western New South
Wales we have millions of starving Kangaroos competing with stock. Beef and sheep
have been reduced down to bare breeding stock.

Professionals are out shooting the poor things rather than see them starve to death
but it's a hopeless task. On one property alone there are an estimated 20,000 in
one section.

Probably "farming" Kangaroos may be an answer. In the wild, the meat is unfit for
'human consumption". Same with wild pigs, goats and Camels. Water Buffalo have
largely been eradicated, rabbits on the way.

Although for some obscure reason Germany does accept wild pig meat as a delicacy,
