I had pretty much the same sort of fun time at Fort Jackson SC. But we
got to send our clothes to a laundry, and we even got back our own
underwear and socks most of the time. I particularly enjoyed eating in
the mess hall with the first sergeant stalking around screaming at
everyone to "shut up, eat up, get up, and get out." I later tried that
on my kids, but my wife made me stop.
