In 1968 I had a really second-class time at the Naval Recruit Training
Center
in San Diego. You could stay in the barracks, scrub your clothes at the wash
table, tie them to the clothesline with little strings! Stand in formation
outside
the chow hall for 30 minutes before every meal, then eat it in five!
