As far as I know the only 6M only rig available now is the Ranger. You
would be better off buying one of the HF/6M rigs. Icom, Yaesu, and Kenwood
all make a good rig. One alternative is to use a good HF rig as the IF (10
meters) and use transverters to get on six. Usually this does not provide
a lot of power out though. I use a Yaesu FT-920 (since 1998) which has
served me pretty good. If I decide to purchase a new rig it would probably
be the Icom 756 Pro III or the IC-746 Pro which is about half the cost of
the Pro III. For single band 6M rigs even used ones are hard to come by.
For used ones you have to make sure there are parts available. The IC-551D
is a case in point as there are minimal parts available for it. If it
breaks, it usually is not repairable. Good luck.
