 Good Afternoon, Our friend Bob, the Emergency Coordinator (EC) for Charles County will be holding a  Winlink class on 11 June. If anyone is interested, please let Bob know. Everyone is welcome to attend and Bob is a great instructor!

 Hello,  On June 11th, we will be having a Winlink 101 class. You'll need to bring a computer, radio and interface.
 In the class we'll be doing:
1) Installing the RMS Express software2) Basic configuration of the software3) Basic operation of the software4) Making an initial Telnet connection5) Sending your first email.
Once we are past that, we'll then work on setting up to do a Peer-to-Peer session using RF. To simplify things, we'll be using the VARA FM product (sound card modem). This means you will need an interface between the radio and the computer.
  There are a number of such devices. One recommendation is the Signalink:

  The device comes with a cable of your choice. You'll have to look at your VHF radio that you can bring with you and then request the cable to match when you place your order. Cost is $140.00 not counting tax and S/H  There is some internal configuration required via jumper wires, however, they also sell for about $10 pre-configured plugs if you dont want to deal with the jumpers.
