[SMCARA] Field Day 2022

Greetings everyone,

Field Day is coming up soon, 38 days by my count.  Ok, I cheated and looked
at the Field Day page on the website.

At this time, I would like to make a call to find out who will be attending
and if you will have a +1/2/3/ect.   Just a thought, if anyone knows of or
is involved with any Scouts, please pass a flyer to them.  If they think
they may visit us, ask them if we could get a heads up, although surprise
visits are welcome too.

We have nailed down some of the big-ticket items such as location, power,
radio gear, logging setup and some amenities (table, chairs, and canopy).

We also have the following covered.

-          Field day rules – Tony

-          Safety Officer – Rob

-          Greeter – Pete

Thanks to Jim and Pete we have two flyers (see attachments).  One is the
field day announcement and the other explains what field day is.

One item I am still soliciting input for is FOOD and drink.  If you leave
it to me, I’ll push the easy button and get some sub sandwiches and cut
them up.  Plus, some burgers and dogs to put on a grill.

If someone wants to run with this, let me know.

If there are other ideas, let me know.

If there are specific dietary needs, let me know.

If you have any criticism, I don’t want to hear it.  Ok, I’ll pretend to
listen.



We had discussed the possibility of doing solar power for field day but I’m
not sure we have picked up enough gear.  Jim (KB1YZ) mentioned that he has
one panel and I believe that Chris (KB2SKP) has one as well.  If you two
would like to coordinate and see if that is an option, that would be great.
I know Chris doesn’t have enough to do.   If there is anyone else that has
thoughts or inputs on the solar discussion, please contact Jim or Chris.

I was supposed to have a meeting last Thursday, but I didn’t get it
coordinated in time.  Maybe I can steal a little time to go over things
during the next club meeting or start a little early (7:00pm)?

We still have 4 weekends before File Day.  If anyone needs help getting
themselves or gear to the event, let me know.  I have a truck with a lift
gate, racks, and a lightweight trailer so I can probably haul whatever you
need.
