Good Morning SMCARA! Last Thursday we held our January meeting on Zoom with a good turnout. Many thanks to Joe, KM4NHN for his presentation on the digital voice mode Fusion. We decided to do an informal "net" using Fusion on the 147.390 repeater tonight (Sunday) at 1900 using Fusion. So if you are interested and have a Fusion radio, listen up on the repeater tonight as we chat in digital and log into a room or two.
We also had updates from the Board members on the museum, trailer, etc. The meeting minutes will be posted on the club's website this week, we'll send an email out when they are posted. Speaking of the Board, we are still looking for a member to fill the position of Secretary. The position only takes a few hours a month with a board meeting, taking club meeting minutes, etc. Please consider taking this position and helping the club continue to grow and be successful.
For the ARES team, we have started the nets back up in 2021 and have started passing simulated traffic using the ARRL Radiogram. Chris, KB2SKP sent a good link that explains how the MDC section works with the National Traffic System (NTS), (remove spaces): https : // http://www.arrl-mdc.net/MDC_NTS_NETS/MDCNTS71.htm
The goal with the ARES net is to eventually start passing traffic to/from the NTS as part of the net. Also another ARES related link for some upcoming free on-line Skywarn classes (remove spaces): https : // www.eventbrite.com/o/national-weather-service-baltimorewashington-dc-office-30517197434?fbclid=IwAR2mW7JSFmYFZX0wsSs0-nJc-kxK3lvON2kHO7vGeDk0DY3b1sf0Yv9ePwk
Everyone enjoy the snow!73, Rob - N2OMC
