[SMCARA] 7300 - FT-8 Comm bus no freq error?

Folks:

Have been enjoying 6 m. FT-8 on the 7300 for a week or so now,  but suddenly
rig cannot transmit- getting a "Comm bus error while getting current
frequency"  and the freq readout on the FT-8 window is oo.ooo or whatever.

Am still able to decode OK, tried other bands and they also give the error
and 00.000 readout.

 

Any ideas on how to correct the problem - I'm thinking perhaps a full RESET
back to factory defaults - but I've read ICOM warnings that it may result in
having to send the radio back to them.

 

Will appreciate any insight.
