All,
It's a good cause I'm willing to make time for. Please send me the contact info so I can see if I can support their time frame.Surely there must be one other person to volunteer some time.

As I have told Ren and June, I will be on my way to South Carolina to watch
the eclipse. Unfortunately for the fourth year in a row, I will be out of
town during JOTA/JOTI.
I don't understand the logic why Walt would encourage us as a group to pass.
I can understand an empathize that he is busy and not able to support, but I
am positive that two of us could step forward to support. I wish I were in
town. I would take the lead. Amateur Radio and Scouting have a long and
strong relationship. Radio merit badge is one of the first and oldest
continuous merit badges scouts can select from. Here is an opportunity to
show youth the importance and role that amateur radio plays in a practical
way. It would be good for us to support this request.
One thing to take into account as I have told June and Ren separately,
Jamboree on the Air has been combined with Jamboree on the Internet
(JOTA/JOTI). This is in recognition that so many stations have a hard time
getting HF and good DXing for a myriad of reasons. Many of the stations
have begun to use Internet based programs like IRLP and Echolink to connect
scouts. We don't need a station or set up like Field Day. We just need a
couple of computers with internet access and maybe some large screens to
display what is going on to the scouts. somebody could set up a simple node
for a few hours. I could advertise through K2BSA and other stations that
are hunting internet nodes will come looking for us.
Again, I wish I could take the lead, but a family field trip that we have
been planning for a year takes priority.
Good luck.
