Thanks everyone for the hints!  Good info.

Sounds like everyone had fun!  I set up the Buddiepole and FT-817 (5 
whole watts!) up in Bellport NY on the southern shore of Long Island 
(ELI) , but didn't make any contacts.  I did hear K3HKI a couple of 
times on 40, but 5 watts against the incredible bedlam of signals just 
drowned my poor QRP out.  I didn't expect to get through, but it was fun 
setting up and trying.

I promise to take better care of the Genny this year!
