[SMCARA] Smith Island activation for US Islands and IOTA coming soon...

      Some of you may know I have been working on arranging a two man 
trip to activate Smith Island, MD.  For those that don’t know or those 
interested, we have set a date.  We will head out to the Smith Island on 
Thursday Oct 8th with the hopes of being operational by 6 or 7pm that 
day.  Todd W3EME and myself will be operating part time while on the 
island, as we also plan to do some photography.  We will close down 
operations late Saturday night.  This activation of Smith Island will be 
for the US Islands program MD003S, and RSGB IOTA (Islands On The Air) 
NA-140.  Our travel, stay, and operation locations are in order, but 
last minute confirmations are still to be done.  We will be operating 
80-10M (depending on band openings) on one band at a time, and 100 watts 
off commercial power.  We will use my Callsign, N3YUG, and plan to 
produce a special QSL card for our island activation. I hope we work as 
many of our Southern Maryland Hams as possible, along with others around 
the world.  We are going to try to also have a 2M antenna up and be in 
contact with everyone back here on the 640 and/or the 350 machines.  I 
hope you have time to look for us while we are there, and I look forward 
to sharing our visit with everyone once we get back.
