This weekend brings the CQ WPX SSB Contest - Full rules here:
http://www.cqwpx.com/rules_2015.pdf If you're interested in operating,
reading these rules should be your first step. The rules define what you
can do and can't do, different operating categories, etc.

Summary: Begins at 8:00 PM on Friday and ends at 8:00 PM on Sunday (Local
Time - EDT)

Exchange: Signal Report (always 59 in a contest) and Sequential Serial
Number (beginning at 001)

* Points: Contacts between stations on different continents are
worth three (3) points on 28, 21, and 14 MHz and six (6) points on 7, 3.5,
and 1.8 MHz. Contacts between stations on the same continent, but different
countries, are worth one (1) point on 28, 21, and 14 MHz and two (2) points
on 7, 3.5, and 1.8 MHz.

* Exception: For North American stations only - contacts between
stations within the North American boundaries (both stations must be located
in North America) are worth two (2) points on 28, 21, and 14 MHz and four
(4) points on 7, 3.5, and 1.8 MHz.

* Contacts between stations in the same country are worth 1 point
regardless of band.

* You can work each station once per band.

Multipliers: Prefixes (The beginning of the callsign and number - so my
prefix would be ND3, Boz would be KG3 and a station in Croatia might be
9A5). Each unique prefix counts once, regardless of band.

Score: QSO Points * Multipliers = final score

Special notes: 10 Meters has been wide open to Europe during daylight hours.
This would be a great chance for Techs to play on HF and make a lot of
contacts in just a few hours of operating. If you've been licensed for less
than 3 years, you can enter as a Novice and get special recognition for your
score.

Here is a link to GenLog, a free, quick, easy to set-up and use, contest
logger: http://www.qsl.net/w3km/

If you need some help understanding the rules, setting up GenLog, or sending
in your log (Cabrillo file), I'm only an e-mail away.
