Nice job, Jason!
Some of us "grey beards" started out on Regens. Mine was a project
shown in an ARRL pub called "How to Become a Radio Amateur" around 1951
or so. It used an
octal based tube called the 6SN7, a dual triode. I learned all about
how to finesse the regen control and something known as "hand effect".
After you have fun on the AM broadcast band, try making a new coil
resonant on 80 or 40 meters and play on the CW portion. AM is no
challenge, but you
need a steady hand for CW! SSB? Good luck! I think even Major Armstrong
would have trouble tuning SSB!
I'll bet Sam has some stories too!
73 Tom ex WN2??? something or other. Long time ago and lost to
posterity! The WN, KN prefix was a novice call and only good for one
year, non renewable!
