Boz,

I'd like to suggest an Icon IC-718 ($600) or pick up several items as runner up prizes, like base or mobile antennas, tuners, 100-foot lengths of coax, etc.  The latter would be given out after the major prize.

If it ain't broke,  let's fix it until it is...

Subject: [SMCARA] August club meeting agenda

Today is my first official day as the SMCARA president.

I'd like to thank the outgoing leadership for their efforts during their
incumbency. They made great improvements and brought
us to where we are today.

Thursday, August 27th is our next club meeting.
Here is our agenda:
1). The October Tail Gate.
I need someone to step up to the plate and organize this event. You
will have my full support both as the president and as an individual ham.

We need advertising, both far and wide.

We need to decide if we are going to purchase an amateur radio
hardware item, and, if so, what it will be. Here are some ideas:
ICOM IC-7200 ($800), YAESU FT-817ND ($660), ICOM ID-51A PLUS ($400).

Please give it some thought and bring your ideas to the club meeting or
discuss here on the club reflector. We must make a decision at this meeting
if we are going to purchase and advertise its availability for raffle in
time for October.

2).	Discuss Article V of the Constitution:
"Article VI Meetings:
The By-Laws shall provide for regular and special meetings. At all
meetings, a minimum of twenty percent (20%) of regular members and two (2)
officers shall constitute a quorum. No official business can be transacted
unless such a quorum is present."

We will discuss what constitutes a member being 'Present' at a meeting.
i.e., can a member vote on an item via proxy? Does sending an e-mail
to the club reflector constitute a vote?

3).	Status of the club annual audit.
Who is conducting the audit?

4).	Status of the SMCARA 146.64 repeater.
As most of you know, the .64 repeater is having a difficult time
hearing (sensitivity) users trying to use it. Mobile and base stations are
working fairly well, Hand Held users are ineffective.

We are working to correct the problem. Please understand our
repeater trustees have other commitments (i.e., family) and can't
dedicate all of their time to fix it.

In the interim, I recommend the use of Pete Butt's WA3UMY repeater
in Lexington Park. It can be accessed on 443.05, positive offset, no PL.

5).	The future:
What would you like to see and hear at our future club meetings?

73, DE N1LID (Boz)
