[SMCARA] Field day 2014 final thoughts

I had a blast. 
And glad that W4OKW can laugh about our miscommunication.

The one idea I might suggest, and maybe do this for JOTA too...
Rather than running a 6m/10m/15m station, let us run a VHF/UHF rig that
plugs into some network (I think Gene Talley did this for a short while).  
We can plug it into some network like echolink or D-link and contact other
sections like AK, SF or PAC that we normally could not hit. I would glady
volunteer to do this, but I don't know how. I just know that it can be done.

Just a thought.

Afternoon all.

Well Field day 2014 is all but in the books and wanted to thank everyone who
showed up/tested/helped/had fun.  This is what (IMHO) Field day is all
about.  We tried operating in an environment outside of our cozy shacks.
We met new operators and saw old ones that are "Rare DX" .  We gave folks
help/technical support on new station setup, antennas, HF operation, new
operating modes and even got a little jealous watching CW OM do their thing.
We got a new Technician and some /AG's (congrats to you all).  And shared a
really great FD meal.  Thanks to all who prepared dinner, brought goodies,
and did mess duty!  Also just fellowship with others and sharing some sea
stories.  And I think we made a few contacts too!

I apologies for not giving FD more attention as well as bailing out on
Sunday.  Sunday was an other issue (I got to meet the Cardinal!) but work
was just more of a bear this year.  again, sorry.  If y'all will have me
again we'll do a better job...promise.

I took quite a few pictures and here shortly will start pumping them up to
my Drive and will push a link to the directory when I get home.  I'll even
push one of Me and the Mrs with His Eminence (so ya'll wont think I was at
home zzznnn)

Anyhoo, FD with the club was a wonderful experience and I can only hope that
we can all meet again at Hollywood volunteer fire station on 27~28 June
2015!
