Tom and CW students, I'd definitely like to participate. My code speed and confidence never got past about 15 wpm during my early amateur licensed years. I let those skills lapse with FM voice and SSB as primary modulation modes. Now I've got the "bug" to rebuild my code skills with goal of copying words- not just letters/numbers/punctuation. This class will help us all move up to the next level. I will practice with straight key until I build up my speed to 18-20 wpm, then switch to paddles and keyer which will help perfect sending during live QSOs. I look forward to the working on code skills with all who sign-up via FM repeaters. If any of you have the January 2009 QST or have member access online -ARRL website, read the article "Morse Code: Efficient or Over the Hill?" by William Packard NN9U on pages 55-58 giving excellent hints for learning to recognize commonly used words that frequently pop-up in normal QSOs.
