[SMCARA] Repeater Status

Your repeater technical committee, represented by Dwayne WD8OYG and Tom
W4OKW, visited the site today for a little TLC to the machine.  Dwayne
brought along a replacement receiver assembly with the new crystal
installed and tweaked to an astounding level of sensitivity. 

Several quick checks around the local area seem to indicate that we have
solved the low sense problem. We will now look at how the range works
out as far as the fringes is concerned before we declare "mission
accomplished". N3JTN got in from Ches Beach with 5 watts as did N3NO
from Hollywood with an HT.

Several new government antennas have "sprouted" on the tower in close
proximity to our repeater antenna that may affect the pattern.  We are
now considering a Plan B, which is undefined at the moment!

So, keep your eyes and ears open and let us know how it is working.
