Greetings All,
September is going to be a good month for us. Here’s a an overview of what’s happening.
1 - - -
On September 8th, we’ll be gathering at Marty’s QTH to help him get his station back on the air. Marty has been a member of the club for many many years and has worked hard to make Amateur Radio in our area more enjoyable. Until fairly recently he had a repeater up. This repeater came down last year after Irene’s visit and he offered to let the club have the frequency pair at the last meeting – unfortunately, with the overwhelming number of 2-meter repeaters available for our use the club opted not to take him up on his generous offer.
Marty’s health is keeping him from getting his station back on the air, but he has everything that is needed, short of the physical capability to put antennas back in the air. So for this long-time club member who has given so much to the club, the club will be meeting on Saturday morning, September 8th, to get him back on the air and enjoying the hobby that he (and we) are dedicated to. Marty will be adding more information about when and where to show up – I encourage every club member to show up and lend a hand.

At a club meeting last year, the club approved the purchase of a beam antenna for the club station. At the last meeting, the Hy-Gain TH-3JRS (http://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-006013) tri-band beam was selected. We will be meeting at 10:00 AM, Saturday, 22 September, at the museum to get this beam into the air.

September 27th brings the next club meeting – the final draft of the proposed constitution and by-laws has been posted on the club web-site. The big change that was made was the addition of Section 5 to Article III of the constitution, which reads...
“Persons attending a club-sponsored class, and after obtaining their amateur radio license, will be granted status as an associate member in the club for a period of one year. Associate members will not have voting privileges, but will have the option for full membership by paying dues as outlined in Section 2.”
Throughout the rest of the document, any time a vote is mentioned the term “members” has been amended to read “voting members” to align with the added section above.
Please read through the proposed constitution and by-laws and post your comments, corrections, questions, or concerns on the reflector so we can all discuss everything prior to the meeting. If suggesting a change, post the “as written” words, followed by recommended wording.
