Wow, Ren, that's a tough one when you start thinking about it...
After some thought, I recall that along stretches of 301 between the Potomac
River Bridge and 95 there are some very wide open fields that would easily
meet your requirements. Perhaps you could spend a day finding a property
owner that is amenable. In this day and age though, you may not have very
good luck as what you are doing will likely seem suspicious to the average
observer!! You may end up on a watch list! :-/
The same type of stretches of open fields can be found on Route 17 between
Fredericksburg and Tappahanock... And some along Route 50 on the way to
Ocean City now that I think about it...
Another idea - load up Google Earth and start searching around the area,
mark some spots, and go visit to see if they are really feasable.
