What I discovered:  The thing is built beautifully; commercial quality.



With a 220 MHz repeater coming to town, I thought you folks might be
interested in knowing more about this antenna.



I've had this antenna sitting "new in the box" since 2008.  I got around to
assembling it this morning and it is very nice.  I have been directional
only on 220 for quite a while (M2 7EZ vertically polarized and pointed at
Charlottesville; no rotator).  I decided that while I'm making a 2 meter SSB
antenna modification, I might as well put this thing on the top of the mast.




While I'm addressing 220:  The Alinco DR-235 is a decent radio for 220 FM.
Not many whistles and bells, but they are good enough, in a strong signal
environment, that KG4HOT uses two of them in his repeaters.  Since my only
experience with 220 is over the path to Charlottesville, I can vouch for the
receiver being adequately sensitive.  I talk to Larry too (N3JTN), but no
receiver test there (six miles).  When the band is dead, I monitor 223.5 MHz
simplex (currently limited by above described directional antenna setup).
