N3LDI tried to contact me via e-mail a few nights ago concerning the Boy
Scouts. Unfortunately I did not see him at Church because I was
participating (melting) in the Grand Centennial Parade up in DC. I called
W4OKW today and I think this will answer N3LDI's questions.
Bob: Tom and I thought it was worth passing along to the whole reflector.
First off:
The National Jamboree kicked off today. They will be in operation through
next week. K2BSA will be operating almost around the clock. Call in! You
may just help a boy get his radio merit badge and you get a nifty QSL too!

Radio merit badge:
I have attached the requirements in PDF format for radio merit badge and the
registration sheet to be a merit badge counselor. All the VE's and officers
of the club can be a counselor. For that matter, just about any GEN or
EXTRA ticket holder could be a counselor. No requirement to be a registered
adult leader to be a counselor.
If the server strips the attachments, contact me and I will forward them to
you, if you are interested.
Pretty much the study classes that the club occasionally holds covers most
of the requirements to earn the merit badge. I say that the scout has earned
the merit badge if a scout gets his tech license; BUT READ the requirements
FOR YOURSELF before agreeing with me.
I have access to the Western Shore District (St. Mary's and Calvert County)
news server. If you want to put out word, feel free to contact me and I
will spread the word!
73's!
