[SMCARA] sunk subs

Between Point Patience and the TJ bridge in the Patuxent River is the
deepest spot in the whole Chesapeake Bay (reported as 164 feet). In that
hole an old S class submarine from the 1920s or 30s was sunk to be the
laboratory for the Navy Salvage Diver's School during WWII. It was cut and
welded and pieces were raised and sunk again numerous times. Recreational
divers don't usually go that deep; too much dwell time on the way back up.
The sub in the Potomac off Piney Point is the WWII stealth skinned German
Panther. After intense study and evaluation, it was used as a target and
first sunk in the Chesapeake Bay off Point Nopoint. It was later raised,
towed, and resunk in its present Potomac River location; now a recreation
diving site.
