Mark:

Normally we would have sufficient # of people to assist at the rest stops,
HQ, and in SAGs. If we get the REACT van that we normally would have based
at CSM, that'll be our focal point. Normally I would offer myself (WR3Z) to
help out at Colton's Point. Last year, we had folks manned at the Charlotte
Hall Library (was AJ3U), the Post Office, and at Oak Ridge Park (that
person, KN3R, will most likely go to TC Martin). All of those folks will
have at least an HT (more likely a higher power mobile rig). We usually
have at least 1 person offering up their vehicle as a SAG also.

I have not finalized the folks with specific duties as of yet. Normally,
unless requested, I do that at the last minute at CSM, then send people out
(or wait to meet their SAGs).

If/When I would head out to Colton's Point, I would normally traverse the
back half of the Metric route and stop at those interim stops to check out
their status. Overall in the past things have worked as planned, especially
with the communicating for SAG assistance as well as food/drink status.

I'm not sure what the cell phone status is right now due to the storm, so
our VHF comm should prove out to be pretty reliable.

Folks - if you have a preference for fixed site assistance, SAG assistance,
or at the CSM base, feel free to let me know.

Thanks,
Barry

Barry, Of the people signed up, can you give me a feel for who might be
mobile with either a handheld or a vehicle rig and who would prefer to be
stationary? We have several fixed sites to man at rest stops like TC Martin
Elementary, Colton's Point, College of Southern Maryland, Charlotte Hall
Library, and the Post Office across from Chopticon. In addition to that,
we'll need people to ride with our SAG wagon drivers (drivers who lend
on-road assistance or pick up those too tired to finish). If someone has a
mobile rig in a truck or car, then they could assist with SAG wagon duties
too if they wanted.

I am planning on being mobile, either in my truck or on my motorcycle. Paul
Evans, included on this message, is in charge of the SAG vehicles.

As of this afternoon, I've received confirmation from the following for
Amish 100 support:

Ren KB3JLZ - XL
Brian Brown (REACT) - XXL
Ray KB3FWW - XL
Mark KB3IJU
Ed N3ZIY - XL
Dawn KB3JTJ - SM
Bob KB3FXA - XL
Andy KB3FWY - XL
Dave N3YZU - XL
A.J. AJ3U - XL
Jerry KN3R

I was not sure as to the availability of the REACT vehicle (Larry, please
confirm availability for me - thanks). Information about the Amish 100 is
below or at www.bikepace.com. I passed on the shirt request to PACE. I
haven't received word as to whether the routes are the same as last year or
not. I've got the PDF of last year's routes in case they're the
same...otherwise, we're good to go for this Saturday beginning ~7:00 at
College of Southern Maryland.

As for frequency use, we'll shoot for the 146.64 repeater, and use the
147.195 if working as a backup (Coltons Point may be iffy with the .64
machine). More to come...

Thanks,
Barry WR3Z
