No kidding, Tom! Something must have failed. I can't imagine them not
having a battery in there somewhere.
The links I sent in my previous e-mail are "realtime" so the interesting
parts of the graph may have slipped out of view by the time most of you
took a look. Fortunately, I grabbed the graphs as GIF files when I took
a look the other day. You can take a look at them on my website. I
have put together a small Isabel page with some interesting pictures I
have found:

Great planning on someone's part! Does the term "back up power" ring a
bell?? Solar power might have saved the day!

I found this on the NOAA website:
http://www.co-ops.nos.noaa.gov/cbports/3WLWind_si.html
You can clearly see the water and wind rising and the pressure dropping.
Note also that the water level rose with the predicted high tide. Not a
good combination. The instruments went offline just before midnight on
9/19 and were not back online at the time of this e-mail.
Here is the same graph for the Bay Bridge Tunnel at the mouth of the
Chesapeake Bay. Those instruments stayed online:
http://www.co-ops.nos.noaa.gov/cbports/3WLWind_bb.html
On this graph you can see the wind direction change from NE to SW as the
eye wall passed.
