The COMET Program is pleased to announce the publication of the new lesson,
"Introduction to the National Blend of Global Models" .
This short lesson (<30 min.) includes audio recordings from Dr. Louis
Uccellini, Director of the U.S. National Weather Service, describing the
motivation and advantages of the National Blend of Global Models. The Blend
will launch nationally at the end of 2015, utilizing the best available
science to provide a consistent starting basis for forecast grids across
the contiguous U.S. The lesson includes comparisons of Blend forecasts with
current guidance and offers a short summary of future plans and
Blend-related training.

The intended audience for "Introduction to the National Blend of Global
Models" includes operational forecasters in National Weather Service
Weather Forecast Offices. Users of NWS forecast products across various
sectors--including emergency management and planning--might also be
interested in this brief overview of the Blend and its goals. Please follow
