[Skywarn] Number for SkyWarn Spotters

I noticed in the MetEd example (www.MetEd.ucar.edu) or the NWS example report that the spotter making the report had a number designation. I was certified through meted.ucar.edu and I sent my info to NWS Corpus Christi, but all I received back was an email with an unlisted number to call to make a report. On another site that certifies spotters, however, they do give a number designator: (www.spotternetwork.org). Could someone explain why the inconsistency or if we are all supposed to have a number to include with a report?
