Join COMET for our first "pay-as-you-go" webinar series. The topic is flash
flooding and the webinars will be offered on March 19-20, 2014. Led by
flood expert Matt Kelsch, this series is designed to increase your
knowledge and interest about these dangerous and fascinating natural
phenomena.

The two webinars in this series will look at aspects of flash floods from
different scientific perspectives. Each webinar will include a Q&A period
at the end.

*March 19, 2014, 10:00 - 11:00 am MDT*

Flash Flood I: Meteorology<https://www.regonline.com/Register/Checkin.aspx?EventID=1479236>

Investigate the physical processes leading to intense rainfall, examine how
meteorologists recognize these patterns via atmospheric indicators and
numerical models, and learn about tools used to analyze rainfall
accumulation in real time.

*March 20, 2014, 10:00 - 11:00 am MDT*

Flash flood II:
Hydrology<https://www.regonline.com/Register/Checkin.aspx?EventID=1503776>

Where does the water go once it hits the ground? Explore the influences of
intense rainfall on runoff and stream response and delve into some of the
factors that affect flooding, such as soil types, land use, watershed
characteristics, and soil saturation.

This series is designed for those with some background in basic
meteorology. The content is presented at the beginning undergraduate level,
but you do not have to be a college student to attend. The content is meant
to appeal to a wide audience.

*Registration*: Online registration will run from February 24, 2014, until
the day of the webinar. The webinars cost $79 each, or register for both
webinars for $129.
