Jason, spotter classes are taught by the Weather Service Forecast Office
that serves the area where you live and often scheduled and sponsored by
either the local radio emergency communications group
(ARES/RACES/AUXCOM/REACT) or local emergency management. North Carolina is
covered by five different Weather Service Forecast Offices which are from
west to east, Morristown, TN (KMRX), Greer, SC (KGSP), Roanoke, VA (KRNK),
Raleigh-Durham(KRDU) and Wilmington (KILM). Since you did not say which
County Warning Area you live in, it is not possible to say when a class will
be taught. If you go to www.weather.gov and click the map on your county,
you will be directed to the correct NWS website...then click on the SKYWARN
or Spotter training tab and you will see a list of currently scheduled
training classes for your area.
By the way, if you live in Clay or Cherokee County, North Carolina, in the
Morristown CWA, you missed the class, it was April 23rd and there will not
be another one until next year but their might be one in Tennessee that has
not yet been held.
Good Luck and I hope you are able to find a class near you.
