Welcome to the group Darren. I hope you find pursuing your ham license
rewarding. Most universities have ham clubs with really nice operating
stations. These clubs are usually affiliated in some way with the
Electrical Engineering Department. I would be very surprised if a
university as well-known as Purdue did not have one. Good luck on your
pursuit of a meteorology degree and don't forget to take broadcast
journalism classes at the same time.
Just remember that broadcast meteorologists really just repeat what the NWS
tells them and the NWS gets their information from the Air Force, Navy, and
several different university research programs.

Hello,
My name is Darren Engleking. I just recently took the skywarn storm spotter
certification classes online. I am completely new to the program, but I
decided to do it, because I will be headed to Purdue University this fall
to study meteorology with the goal of becoming a broadcast meteorologist
some day. I will be affiliated with the Northern Indiana Skywarn group.
Not sure what else needs to be included. Currently not a HAM operator, but
I hope to get that license soon as well!
