[Skywarn] Condolences

Agreed. Condolences, thoughts and prayers to the families of all those
lost, including the spotters/chasers. I find it very ironic this very topic
was being discussed on this forum only two days before this tragic event.
It is time that all spotters who go mobile during severe
thunderstorm/tornado events re-evaluate and practice their storm avoidance
plans and techniques so no similar incidents occur in the future.
Remember, Basic Storm Spotter class is not sufficient training for mobile
storm chasing. In depth training and planning is a necessity for such
ventures which should only be conducted by properly trained individuals.
And, unfortunately, even those who are properly trained can still be killed
or seriously wounded during the chase.
Nonetheless, God Bless those who take the risk. Moore, OK had 19 minutes of
warning and OKC had nearly 30 minutes of warning from ground truth
verification.
Remember, there is no statistical way to prove how many lives were saved,
but we spotters know in our hearts that more lives were saved than lost due
to the courageous efforts of both volunteer and paid spotters and chasers
who provide ground truth verification for early warning.
