Hello Carroll and welcome to the Skwyarn mailing list. You are doing a
terrific service. Here in the Southeast US, we have the SOUTHCARS Net on
7.251 which is both a travel advisory net and place for stations to meet and
move off to another frequency. I always try to relay travel and weather
info when appropriate for the many mobile hams that check in, especially in
the late Autumn and Winter. Here in the Great Smoky Mountains, ice can form
from freezing fog and drizzle with little or no warning. Newfound Gap in
the Great Smoky Mountains National Park (US-441 from Cherokee, NC to
Gatlinburg, TN) is frequently closed or limited to chain-equipped vehicles
at times during the winter. I automatically receive weather statements,
outlooks, and advisories from all the WSFO offices that forecast in and near
my area.
Keep up the good work!
73 and Merry Christmas,
de Kevin KD4UYR
