Hi Skip, according to Ask and Mapquest, you live in Harris County, TX, and I
find it very hard to believe the Greater Metro Houston area would not have
an existing SKYWARN program. You might want to check into the following
links for further information about your area:

http://www.harriscountycitizencorps.com/newsletters/2010/November2010Newslet
ter.pdf

http://www.w9tec.com/chaseradio/tx.html (Harris County is listed with 2 ham
VHF repeaters and one ham UHF repeater used for SKYWARN).

http://harriscountyares.org/training/WEA/WEA-111.pdf (talks about the ham
radio station at WSFO HGX Houston/Galveston)

http://www.sharkclub.org/skywarn/skywarn.htm (This would be the Sam Houston
Radio Club SKYWARN page with frequencies and SAME codes for your area.)

http://www.srh.noaa.gov/hgx/?n=skywarn (This the WSFO HGX SKYWARN page which
includes the 2014 training schedule).

Please remember you will not find a SKYWARN group specifically for Spring,
TX. SKYWARN groups are formed based on one or more counties withing the CWA
or County Warning Area, so you are looking for the Harris County SKYWARN
group or something similar to that. The ham radio based SKYWARN groups are
frequently associated with ARES, RACES, or AUXCOMM, but not always.

NC ARES, and District 2 Coordinator for WSFO MRX SKYWARN (NC060-061).

Greetings from Spring, Texas. Altho I am not an official "skywarn" guy...I
am an dedicated sky watching guy..especially around hurricane season. I have
tried to locate a "skywarn" group down here but all I find is yall from the
north. So, if yall don't mind I'll just put my 2 cents in whenever there is
serious weather out there. I spent my military life in aviation so I am
pretty up to snuff on weather issues. Thanks, KF5MVQ  {Skip Hunt}
