Hi Greg!

YES, here in Miami, our NWS Warning Coordinator Meteorologist, Robert
Molleda is a strong advocate and proponent for both Skywarn AND CoCoRaHS.
During Mr. Molleda's Skywarn Training Classes, he calls on me (Broward
County CoCoRaHS Coordinator) to do a short presentation to the Skywarn
classes about CoCoRaHS.

After all, as long as we're watching the skies, we can also measure what's
coming out of it!

During Tropical Storm Isaac last summer, my CoCoRaHS location and rainfall
reports showed up among the list of Storm rainfall totals for many
locations across the impacted area.

YES! Please do continue reporting your rainfall totals to CoCoRaHS, daily,
if possible. However, in the event of a *severe weather event*, reports
are welcome at NWS Skywarn, along with observation of other severe weather
events, i.e., wall cloud, funnel clouds, tornadoes, property damage
resulting from weather related activity, hail, etc.

By the way, are you a licensed amateur radio station? If not, you may want
to consider making that your next venture! As we have witnessed time and
time again, when all else fails (electricity, phones, internet), hams will
be among the few open lines of communication between the NWS, Emergency
Managers and our community's served agencies.

Hope this helps!

More to follow....

Cheers!

& Thanks!
