Greetings everyone!
My name is John. I'm a recently certified SkyWarn spotter, working the
Bexar County,
San Antonio, Texas areas. I'm also a general class amateur radio operator,
a member of our local rainfall net, which our data gets sent daily to the
NWS office in New Braunfels, Texas and looking forward to combining the 2
hobbies (ham radio and storm spotting) together, to be as much help to my
community as possible. I have been an avid weather/storm watcher for years,
but just recently felt the need to get certified and help out in anyway I
can.
I'm also looking for advise and pics of some of your vehicles, with the
equipment you have installed and any tips you may have.
I use an iPhone with allot of different weather/radar apps, Radarscope,
WeatherTap, to name a couple.
My storm spotting/everyday vehicle is a 2003 Ford Windstar minivan.
Currently I have a Yaesu FT-7900 dual band 50 watt vhf/uhf mobile with a
5/8 wave antenna also a 10 meter HF radio with a 5/8 wave antenna. So I'm
very interested to see what others are running when storm spotting.
See you at the next storm!!
