The COMET Program is pleased to announce the publication of "Satellite
Feature Identification: Atmospheric Rivers". This 1-hour module
contains six sections that guide the learner through the definition,
components, and impacts of Atmospheric Rivers (ARs), with an emphasize
on satellite observation tools. The module starts by defining the AR
and demonstrating the utility of advanced satellite tools. Next, the
module focuses on the moisture and moisture transport component of ARs
using both satellite and NWP products to observe and forecast AR
evolution. Next is an exploration of forecasting precipitation
associated with ARs. And finally some real AR cases are demonstrated
before a summary of the main points. This module is part of the
series: "Dynamic Feature Identification: The Satellite Palette".

This module includes many satellite animations and graphics along with
frequent interactive questions to facilitate learning. Please follow
this link to the MetEd description page that provides additional
information and a link to begin the module: Satellite Feature
Identification: Atmospheric Rivers.
