Good morning!
Saturday December 4 has been designated as SKYWARN Recognition Day at the
NWS office in Tulsa. This annual event, sanctioned by NOAA's National
Weather Service, showcases the people and tools that help provide critical
services during times of severe weather.

During the year, each of you act as SKYWARN volunteers in a storm spotting
capacity and as net control operators for and at the NWS office in Tulsa and
this event recognizes YOUR commitment to SKYWARN. Please join us on
Saturday, December 4th for a day of weather related activities and fun.

A highlight again this year is the launch and tracking of a weather balloon
by Oklahoma Research Balloons from the NWS Tulsa parking lot Saturday
Morning!

Overall Agenda:
0700-1600 Continuous VHF/UHF Repeater Coverage
1300-1600 Continuous HF Coverage at Red Cross

Specific Agenda
0800-0900 Parking Lot Gathering/ORB Q&A
0900 ORB Balloon/Payload Launch
0900-1100 Balloon Chase
1100-1200 Payload Recovery
1200-1300 Lunch
1300-1400 Spotter/Chaser Technology Presentation
1400-1500 AWIPS NCO/Spotter Simulation
1500-1600 Wrap-Up

I encourage you to forward this e-mail to anyone interested in weather,
becoming a volunteer for the NWS in Tulsa / OKARK SKYWARN, or who just loves
radio. There will be plenty of opportunity to talk on the air on both VHF
and UHF as well as HF. If you are not currently involved, please be our
guest. Come see what goes on during severe weather and how amateur radio is
used to assist the NWS.

Thank you - see you Saturday!
