We had 24 checkins tonight.
Talked about the current Perseid meteor show which peaks this Monday Aug 12 before dawn. Any evening and morning after midnight between now and the 18th are good nights to observe. Though the Moon will interfere some in the morning before dawn after the 14th. All you need is dark skies, a blanket and your eyes. No special equipment needed. Lounge chairs help though. Lay back and look up, away from outdoor lights or away from the city if you can. This is one of the best meteor showers of the year and you may see up to 60-80 meteors per hour near the peak. Send me an email and I'll be happy to answer any of your questions.
We also talked about the upcoming - once in a life time - nova happening in the constellation of Corona Borealis, located in the southern sky around 8-9 pm local time, which may become visible sometime between now and October/November.
