Greetings from your broadcast friends out on the Desert...
This is the BDR Newsletter 750, Volume 15, #22 for December 27, 2023

Here are some things you might want to know about:

BRRRRRRR
Oh my goodness! Someone let the white stuff down this week! (Welcome to the official start of Winter 2023 - it was on 12/21).

We hope that it has neither disrupted your travel plans nor caused transmission interruptions. This is definitely the season you do not want an emergency trip to the transmitter. Just a suggestion: when you have the time and no pressure, visit the transmitters as you can, and ensure all looks well. As you know, for some reason a lonely transmitter finds a way to "call out."

LPFM
The FCC is working its way through the LPFM applications. Appplicants now are awaiting the lists of stand-alones and the mutually exclusives to see how this next phase turns out.

GETTING READY FOR 2024
Meanwhile, all of us are in the final week of 2023. It is a good time to reflect on any paperwork that should be concluded for this year - and start setting goals and deadlines for 2024.

Our final virtual get-together will center on the what we want to remember from 2023, what we want to forget, and an opportunity to think about the possibilities for 2024. Maybe you will get some good ideas and some new ways to get projects underway.

MORE NIPRB LETTERS
Some further NIPRB (Noitce of illegal Priate Broadcasting) letters have gone out from the FCC to landowners in places like Sweet Home, OR, Lake Forest, CA, and Guaynabo, PR.

NO CHANGE
One of the most anticipated things from the FCC this year is the network and TV station ownership limits - a fair part of the long overdue 2018 quadrennial review the FCC has been slow to conclude. The upshot: no real major changes, albeit some tightening of existing rules, like the Top Four rule, which seeks to keep the TV industry from consolidating away from localism.

ONE APPLE THE TEACHER WILL NOT GET
A patent dispute has disrupted the sale of Apple 9 and Ultra 2 watches. No telling how many are in the supply chain, but this is going to be an annoyance for a lot of folks. Apple is appealing the ruling.

FOR SALE

While it is not always easy to relax when you are off the air, most manufacturers are watching the phone lines and will respond as quickly as they can during a holiday week.
