I find Mestaa’ėhehe’s story inspiring. Her marriage to William Bent created an alliance and space of peace between the Native peoples and the European settlers in the 1830s-1840s. She was the communication bridge between communities. Today, the mountain that now bears her name is all about communications.

I am using the abbreviation “Mestaeh” or “Mestaaeh” in my radios that support 16-character names, though I suspect I’ll shorten it further for radios with smaller field limits.

I do not know what the Morse equivalent is for accented letters, especially the “overdot e”.
