OBARC and SJDXA members,
With the assistance of SJDXA members, we will be putting together a batch of
QSL cards for bureaus. (Outgoing QSLs to DX stations, this includes
everywhere except the 48 contiguous states).
Since we do this "direct" with the help of Steve KU9C who is a member of
SJDXA and a very active QSL Manager, we are able to offer this service to
"locals" from SJDXA (and OBARC) for a reduced rate (at cost).
To give you an idea, the ARRL Outgoing QSL Bureau charges:
$1.15 per ounce, plus $7.00 QSL Bureau service fee. For example, a package
containing 1.5 pounds of cards - 24 ounces, or about 225 cards - will cost
$34.60. Please see the information below for additional pricing details. The
minimum charge is $8.15 for one ounce or less.
I will be offering this service to SJDXA and OBARC members for $13/pound
($7/half pound) with no service fees.
So, to compare, 1.5 pounds of cards will be $20.
We use the same parameters for sorting as the ARRL.:
Sorting Cards
Presort your DX QSLs alphabetically by parent call sign prefix (AP, CE, DL,
ES, EZ, F, G, JA, LY, PY, UN, YL, 5N, 9Y, and so on). Canadian and
Australian cards should be sorted by numerical call sign (VE1, VE2, VE3 and
VK1, VK2, VK3, etc). Note: Some countries have a parent prefix and use
additional prefixes, i.e. G (parent prefix) = M, 2E, 2I, 2M, 2W, etc. When
sorting countries that have multiple prefixes, keep that country's prefixes
grouped with the parent prefix in your alphabetical stack. Addresses are not
required.
Countries Not Served By the Outgoing QSL Service

QSL cards can be forwarded to a QSL manager, e.g., ZB2FX via G3RFX. Many
operations from places without a QSL bureau have a QSL manager.
Here is a useful link that I use to attempt to locate an appropriate QSL
Manager:

We recommend that after sorting, that you rubber band your cards together.
Any questions, let me know.
See ya' in the Pileups!
73!
