[SJDXA] Scanner project

SJDXA members,

I have the new scanner and it looks to be FB.

However, it requires a PC for our requirements.

I think we need to have a dedicated laptop for this project. Although I have
some "old" ones here, after some careful consideration, I think that since
we have ample funds for the project, we should acquire a new laptop just for
this project.

I will shop for something in the $300-$400 range on Amazon.  I have looked
at Tigerdirect for refurbs, but for just a little more, I think a new one
would be more reliable. But I will research carefully.

 

I will also purchase a portable hard drive for this project that will stay
with the laptop.

 

This will put everything we need for this project in one package that can be
transported. The scanner itself has a fairly small footprint so everything
would fit in one tub.

 

My plan will be to set it up on the shack table (under the front windows)
after everything is dismantled from the 160 contest. 

I have one of the Lloyd and Iris log books here so I can do a trial run from
home once I have all of the pieces put together.
